Department of nanomaterials and nanotechnology

Mendeleev University of chemical technology, Moscow, Russia

Depatrment of nanomaterials and nanotechnology

The department of nanomaterials and nanotechnology of Mendeleev University was established in 2003. It was the first chemical technological department in Russian Universities for higher learning with teaching and research facilities in nanomaterials and nanotechnology. Now this department is a professional school that awards master's degree and engineer diploma in nanomaterials and nanotechnology. The director of the depatrment -
professor Yurtov E.V.

Our graduates - bachelors and masters

In 2003 in Mendeleev University the first enrolment of students on the first course on a speciality "Nanomaterialy" was carried out. In the diploma of students - graduates of our department their speciality - "Nanomaterials" is written down.

Academician A.Yu. Tzivadze, director of Institute of Physical Chemistry and Electrochemistry (Russian Academy of Sciences),
gives lecture to students
Director of Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry (Russian Academy of Sciences) academician N.T. Kuznetsov is talking with the students about nanomaterials

New academic plan for students in nanomaterials was elaborated in Mendeleev University in cooperation with National University of Science and Technology "MISIS", and also with Saint Petersburg Electrotechnical University, Moscow Institute of Electronic Technology. The principal feature of the academic curriculum in Mendeleev University is fundamental chemical technological education. Special disciplines can be classified into three main directions: - physical chemistry of nanoparticles and nanomaterials - methods and tools for investigation and analysis of nanoparticles and nanomaterials - physical-chemical and chemical technology of nanomaterials.

In our department undergraduate and graduate level students are engaged in scientific research. They have professional practice in leading research centers of Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS): A.N. Frumkin Institute of Physical Chemistry and Electrochemistry, N.S. Kurnakov Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry, V.I. Vernadsky Institute of Geochemistry and Analytical Chemistry, A.A. Baikov Institute of Metallurgy and Materials Science and others.

The fourth-year students are in the Fiber Optics Research Center of Russian Academy of Sciences. Academician E.M. Dianov gives special lectures to fourth-year students

The Mendeleev University graduates in nanomaterials are employed by the leading research centers in Russia and abroad, state and private enterprises, dealing with nanomaterials and nanotechnology.

The second-year students are in the laboratory of organic chemistry
